Effigy
Mounds National Monument is the home of over 191 Indian burial
mounds, 29 in the form of bear and bird effigies. The 1,481-acre
park is still considered sacred by many people today. Guided and
unguided hiking trails are available. Located at 151 Hwy 76, just 3

Pikes Peak
State Park is located just 1 ½ miles S. of McGregor, offering
picnicking, hiking trails and the most beautiful view of
the Mississippi, overlooking the confluence of the Wisconsin &

The Upper
Mississippi River National Wildlife Refuge District Office and
Visitors Center is operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, and is located between McGregor and Marquette. The refuge
is one of the largest and most popular wildlife refuges in the
United States.
The
Mississippi River offers great opportunities to fish in remote
backwaters, channels, along sandbars, islands, dams and spillways.
Lock & Dam #10, located at Guttenberg, is one of the 29 locks on the
upper Mississippi River.
